Licensed to practice in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina, MMK Architecture focuses on select residential and commercial projects. Megan Kiel emphasizes a high level of client engagement, leveraging her curiosity, collaboration, and dedication to add significant value throughout the design and construction process. Her approach is problem-solving oriented, beginning with a thorough understanding of each client's unique challenges. With a balanced expertise in both technical and design aspects, Megan guides clients from pre-design through construction, believing that successful projects result from strong, collaborative teamwork.
Megan Mattaliano Kiel is an award-winning architect licensed in Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. A member of the AIA, an NCARB certificate holder, and a LEED Green Associate, Megan is dedicated to accessible design for all. She is certified in Universal Design by the Virginia Housing Authority and a Fitwell Ambassador, reflecting her commitment to human health and wellness in the built environment.
Megan graduated Magna Cum Laude and Salutatorian with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Catholic University of America, and Cum Laude with a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech. Her accolades include the Patrick Cardinal O'Boyle Foreign Studies Competition and the AIA Washington Metropolitan Nathan C Wyeth Award.
Her passion for architecture began early through volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and working with a general contractor. With over ten years of experience managing large-scale multi-family and mixed-use projects, Megan has developed a strong focus on affordable and senior housing. Her personal experience with multi-generational living enhances her ability to address diverse design challenges with a unique, empathetic approach.
Megan resides in Maryland with her husband, three children, and her mother. She enjoys reading in her backyard hammock, al fresco dining, and neighborhood power walks.
